The original 'Beverly Hills, 90210" and its CW reboot have made a practice of inviting cool musical guests to drop in and do their thing, from Christina Aguilera and the Flaming Lips hanging with Donna and the gang back in the day to N.E.R.D., Samantha Ronson, Train, All-American Rejects, Snoop Dogg and Cobra Starship dropping in on the Wilson kids.
Now, you can add Carly Rae Jepsen to that illustrious list. After scoring the hit of the spring/summer with the ubiquitous "Call Me Maybe," the Justin Bieber protégé is adding another big notch to her belt with an upcoming appearance on the season five premiere of "90210."
According to an announcement released on Monday by CBS Television Studios, Jepsen will perform a song from her upcoming album and play herself as the headliner on a Las Vegas bill featuring former troubled teen Adrianna Tate-Duncan (Jessica Lowndes). "We fell in love with ['Call Me Maybe'] when we first heard it and used it in last season's finale before it was a national sensation," said "90210" executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen in a statement. "We think she's an exciting artist and are thrilled to be able to have her music on the show again, this time in a live performance in our season premiere."
The upcoming season will kick off on October 8.
After killing the charts (and YouTube) with "Maybe," Jepsen is wrapping up work on her much-anticipated full-length debut album . "At this point, my record is almost finished. It's pretty close, just wrapping up the loose ends," Jepsen told in late June. "I feel like the songs are mostly there, but there's still some production and stuff to be done, but we're close. We're at the home stretch."
Before making her "90210" debut, though, Jepsen will hit the road as boss Bieber's opening act on the Believe tour, which kicks off on September 29.
