The 42-year-old singer and husband René Angélil welcomed Eddy and Nelson to the world back in October, and the pair were delighted as they had endured several rounds of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) beforehand.
Céline and René have a nine-year-old son called René-Charles too, so the singer knew plenty about parenting, although raising two newborn babies at the same time has been tricky. Céline is enjoying every minute of motherhood, including breastfeeding, and admits she tries to see the funny side during moments of mayhem.
“I take things day by day,” she explained to French magazine Gala. “That’s the secret to me. In any case, breastfeeding is more difficult if you are stressed. Sometimes I find myself in comical situations I don’t know how to get myself out of. For example, when both are feeding and one has gas while the other is burping, I don’t know which position to adopt!”
The songstress was keen to express her desire to spend as much time as possible with her infants, as she doesn’t see the point of having offspring unless you intend on caring for them yourself. Céline is happy to confess she doesn’t find being a mother easy, but she wouldn’t change things for the world.
“I didn’t have these children to not take care of them, to give myself to them 200 – 300%,” she revealed. “I am changing diapers and breastfeeding and that’s something where no one can take my place. It’s tiring but an intense joy.”
