Pop star Charli XCX has joined the cast of the new Angry Birds movie.
The singer will voice turquoise bird Willow in the film adaptation of the popular mobile app game, according to producer John Cohen.
He took to Twitter on Saturday (02Apr16) to welcome Charli to the cast, writing: "I'm excited to announce that the amazing @CHARLI_XCX is voicing Willow in #AngryBirdsMovie!!! More news coming soon!"
The 23-year-old singer/songwriter joins a cast that includes Blake Shelton, Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.
The film hits theatres in the U.S. on 20 May (16).
Transitioning onto the big screen is really no surprise for Charli, real name Charlotte Aitchison, as she has previously spoken about her huge love of movies.
Citing filmmaker Sofia Coppola as one of her favourite directors of all time, Charli noted during a 2015 interview with The San Diego Union-Tribune she often looks to feature films as a source of inspiration while writing music.
"Making my first record, I was really inspired by all the colour palettes Sofia Coppola has in her films," she recalled, referring to her 2008 album 14. "The scenes in The Virgin Suicides where Elle Fanning is ice skating are really amazing.
"Lyrically, it helps me seeing those kind of images and (absorbing) that kind of atmosphere. On my first album, I felt like, if it was going to be turned into a movie, it would have been directed by Sofia Coppola. She creates this kind of pastel-coloured palette that's very whimsical, but also very stagnant. And that's really how I heard the record."
