The scandal-hit star, whose recent bizarre rants and booze and drug-fuelled benders have landed him in hot water with his CBS bosses, who have since shut down his Two And A Half Men show, spoke candidly to entertainment website TMZ earlier today.
The exclusive interview, in the back garden of his Los Angeles mansion, was live-streamed by the US showbiz website. Viewers saw two of Sheen’s blonde “goddesses” lounging around the pool as he spoke openly to reporter Mike Walters.
“I love and respect all my beautiful fans,” said the former Spin City star, who also declared that he was “clean” from drugs.
“Whatever part I had in this, I sincerely apologise for. Whatever I can fix, I guarantee I will. I’m sorry the powers that be took away your viewing pleasure, your comfort TV. I’m sorry they snatched it from you like they snatched it from me, but I’m fighting, defeat is not an option.”
Sheen also insisted he will not follow the same path as fellow actor Heath Ledger and music legend Michael Jackson, who both died from prescription medication overdoses.
“It’s not a one size fits all, that’s what people seem to don’t get,” he said. “That’s all I’m gonna say about it. Don’t do drugs that are just supposed to be administered in hospital at home. Read the warnings, read the back labels, read the directions guys, do freakin’ homework…”
The 45-year-old actor also took the opportunity to lash out at CBS boss Chuck Lorre, who has abruptly cancelled the production of Sheen’s primetime TV show, for which he earns a reported $1.8m per episode.
He said: “I’m not bitter, I’m just looking for answers to my questions. When we ask for them to respond to my questions and they don’t respond, what are you guys hiding from? I don’t understand, I’m supposed to be out there like all humble and begging for my job well no, I’m sorry I don’t do that.”
He added: “When I’ve been completely left behind, twisting in the wind like some sucker getting shanked in the yard on top of everything else, I don’t understand what I did wrong except live a life that you all get jealous of.”
