Last month, the Hollywood star was hospitalised while spending time in New York with his ex-wife Denise Richards and their daughters Sam, six, and five-year-old Lola. He was reportedly found drunk and naked in a hotel room, and was taken to a clinic for an alleged “alcohol abuse and psychological evaluation”. Charlie has since denied reports he had taken cocaine before the incident.
In what has been a turbulent few weeks for the actor, he also filed for divorce from his estranged wife Brooke Mueller citing “irreconcilable differences”. The star has now returned to the set of his TV show Two and a Half Men, and received a warm welcome from his co-stars this week.
“Charlie is taking his sobriety seriously,” a source told People magazine. “He is taking it one day at a time. He's sober, back at work and moving forward.”
The 45-year-old and Brooke have been separated since Christmas Day 2009, when they had a fight which saw Charlie arrested and eventually pleading guilty to domestic violence. He spent time in rehab as part of a plea agreement.
The star is now said to be receiving the help of a sober coach, who is giving him spiritual guidance in the wake of his latest personal problems.
