Actress Charlotte Gainsbourg is said to be "devastated" after Pete Doherty was sentenced to six months in prison for cocaine possession.
The actress is understood to have grown close to the Babyshambles singer last year, after they worked together on 'La Confession D’un Enfant Du Siecle (The Confession Of A Child Of The Century)' - a film based on poet Alfred de Musset’s 19th Century autobiographical novel.
According to the Daily Mail, Doherty had been boasting to friends that Charlotte - who is the daugher of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg - had "fallen in love" him, with a source adding: "He’s been speaking about the relationship very openly and was planning to move to Paris to be closer to her."
However, the couple's relationship has been stunted after Pete Doherty was sentenced to six months in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday (May 20th), where he pleaded guilty to cocaine possession.
Judge David Radford, who sentenced the former Libertines star, said at the time: "From what I have heard and what I have read there is no doubt that you are a talented and successful musician. However, you have an appalling record of committed offences of the kind for which you fall to be sentenced today."
