The 34-year-old, whose band bring out their fifth album, Mylo Xyloto, this week, panics about people possibly not liking their new music.
He said: 'The day our albums come out I want to kill myself. Really, I feel suicidal.
'Before our albums come out I feel that we still own it, that we have control over our music. But once it's out there in the world it's no longer ours. I start to panic and think, 'What if people don't like this album? What if it's the one our biggest fans don't like?''
But despite his comments, Martin, who is married to Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow, thinks people will enjoy their new record.
He added to British newspaper the Daily Star: 'I'm more excited than ever about Mylo Xyloto as I think it's our best work. I'm hopeful others will love it.'
