Having revealed at the Q Awards that his love for Take That made him question his sexuality, the frontman has now teased that his marriage to the Hollywood actress has just been a cover-up for his true orientation.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Coldplay frontman told lesbian host Ellen: “She’s been a great beard for me now, for ten years.”
“She just pretends that she’s your wife?” asked Ellen.
“Yeah, it’s hard to believe,” he laughed, before going on to reveal that his marriage to the Oscar winning actress is the only serious relationship he’s ever had.
The father-of-two also confessed that like his bandmate Jonny Buckland, he joined a group because he was struggling to meet ladies.
“I think a lot of people like me and Jonny join bands because we were really not doing so well,” he added.
“With women?” Ellen asked.
“With anybody,” Martin replied.
