Chris Martin: My kids keep me focused

Chris Martin says his children provide him with 'extra drive' when composing music.

The Coldplay frontman has two kids with wife Gwyneth Paltrow, daughter Apple, seven, and son Moses, five. With his band's newest album set to be released this month, Chris recalls how his children impacted his creative approach.

"[My children] made me more focused on not wasting time on anything I don''t think is worth wasting time on," Chris told USA Today.

"So that''s affected my editing process... You don''t want to spend months and months doing something and have it turn out terrible. You want your kids to be proud, basically. So it gives you extra drive."

Chris gets fired up creatively by his family, but he does not want to impose his influence on his youngsters. His children are not obligated to be Coldplay fans.

"I don''t make them listen to [Coldplay's music],' Chris said.

'No one in our family has to listen to it."

Coldplay's newest album Mylo Xyloto will be released worldwide on October 24.
