Chris Martin is apparently reluctant to move away from London and "uproot" his children.
The Coldplay frontman shares daughter Apple and son Moses with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow and the family currently resides in the UK.
Whereas the actress has made no secret of wanting to move to Los Angeles, her beau is apparently less enthusiastic, despite owning a plush mansion in the US.
"Gwyneth loves London but she also wants the kids to experience the Los Angeles beach lifestyle that she grew up with. She doesn't want their whole childhood spent in the city," a source divulged to British magazine Star.
"Chris was more accepting of a temporary stateside move when they bought the house in Brentwood last year. He always enjoys his time in Los Angeles, but is worried that anything longer than an extended holiday would uproot Apple and Moses and could harm their education. They're both realising that as the kids get settled into school, it'll be harder to flit between the two continents and a decision will have to be made. It has begun to cause tension as they can't reach an agreement."
Gwyneth is reportedly also keen to move to the States to be closer to her actress mother, Blythe Danner, who lost her husband to cancer in 2002.
Blythe is 70 and the blonde star is keen to spend precious time with her mom.
"She's not just thinking of herself - she wants the kids to spend more quality time with their granny, too," the insider continued.
