Christina Perri's new material took so long to record because the songs are "super personal".
The A Thousand Years singer is about to release her second album, Head or Heart, after an 18 month recording period. The 27-year-old revealed that the whole album follows a very private theme.
"They are all super special," she told US OK! Magazine. "Seriously, all of them are as personal as possible, but if I had to choose one [a song that holds a special place for her] I'd say Trust. It's the first song I wrote for Head or Heart and it's the song that inspired the whole theme and the question that I'm proposing. It feels like the first born!"
In keeping with the personal feeling of the album, the heavily tattooed singer is contemplating getting another inking to mark the record. But instead of designing something herself, the Jar of Hearts singer thinks she will get something that one of her devoted followers has created.
"Maybe [I'll get] one of the fan doodles that I had everyone drawing up to the release date," she mused. "There were some seriously great head/heart illustrations. By the time this cycle is over, I can guarantee you I will have something new."
As well as discussing her love of body art, Christina elaborated on a previous confession that she loves to rock out to Beyoncé before one of her shows. In fact there is one song in particular of Bey's that Christina plays without fail.
"Love on Top every single night," she laughed. "Some nights we only get in one or two key changes, but most nights we get them all and then we go right to the stage!"
