Christine McVie has told the British paper The Guardian that it took her fifteen years, but she finally has realized she misses music and Fleetwood Mac.
McVie played for the first time with the group when she was still a member of the group Chicken Shack, playing piano on their second album, Mr. Wonderful. She married the Mac's John McVie in 1970 and became a full member when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined in 1974.
Even though the McVie's divorced by the late-70's, she continued to play with the band, when they were together, through the 1997 live album The Dance and their 1998 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has stayed pretty much a homebody since, just joining Fleetwood Mac for a couple of shows on their recent tour.
That reunion may end up being a turning point. McVie now says that she would like to rejoin the band permanently, telling The Guardian "I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted ... but it hasn't happened so we'll have to wait and see."
The problem may be with Lindsey Buckingham who is afraid that appearances with Christine will seem like a gimmick. "From his point of view, it was a business thing. [Promoters] would be asking why I wasn't playing in Amsterdam or Berlin. They obviously wanted headlines about them, not me, and I quite agree with that."
