"Dancing With the Stars" is down to its final six couples, and after last week's surprise elimination of former "Hills" star Audrina Patridge, it's anyone's game.
Perhaps realizing that Patridge's elimination had opened a door, the celebrities stepped their routines up during the show's 200th episode on Monday (November 1).
To celebrate that milestone, former "DWTS" contestants were on hand to lead — and judge — this year's crop of dancers.
In the group competition, the six dancers were split up into teams led by former champs Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno. Yamaguchi led Rick Fox, Bristol Palin and Kyle Massey in the cha-cha, and they each scored 8s across the board for a total of 24 points each. Ohno instructed Jennifer Grey, Brandy and Kurt Warner, and each of them received 9s from each judge, giving them 27 points going into the individual round.
In the second phase of Monday's competition, the dancers paid homage to past performances, and were judged by contestants who had been on the show in the past.
Massey and his partner Lacey Schwimmer recreated the paso doble performed by former Spice Girl Mel B. Head judge Len Goodman said it was Massey's best dance, while Mel B called it "amazing." 35, with 10 from Mel B; overall score 59.
Warner and his partner Anna Trebunskaya got high marks; judge Bruno Tonioli called him "very suave," while former contestant (and fellow NFL legend) Emmitt Smith said, "You look perfect." 34, with 10 from Smith; overall score 61.
Mark Ballas and Bristol Palin danced the Viennese waltz in the style of former contestent Kelly Osbourne. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said that while Palin was endearing, she seemed detached. Osbourne thought otherwise, saying, "You did fantastic." 33, with 9 from Osbourne; overall score 57.
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke recreated the quickstep performed by Helio Castroneves. Tonioli joked that Fox made more faces than Jim Carrey, while Inaba thought Fox turned in his best dance of the season. 37, with 10 from Castroneves; overall score 61.
Singer Brandy and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were challenged to recreate the foxtrot as done by Gilles Marini. Brandy impressed Marini, who said that watching her perform gave him goosebumps. 37, with 10 from Goodman; overall score 64.
Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough took on Drew Lachey's tango; the judges were impressed with Grey, and Tonioli said she was like a phoenix rising. 37, with 10 from Lachey; overall score 64.
