On Tuesday night, it was Ralph Macchio saying goodbye on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."
The Karate Kid landed in the bottom two with actress Kirstie Alley, but it was his name called to head home.
It only made sense — Macchio had Monday night's lowest score — 48 out of 60 — and he was still nursing an injury from the week before. Head judge Len Goodman told Macchio and his partner Karina Smirnoff that their tango "didn't really smolder; however, having said that, I liked the setup around the lamp post, into the dance. It was sharp and precise, full of content. Well done."
In Macchio's exit speech, he talked up the crowd's excitement after his first dance, saying that was the memory that would stay with him most.
"I will never forget how the fans have driven us through every week," he said. "It inspired me. I would run here every Monday. I love that and my gratitude is overwhelmed."
He also applauded his partner, saying, "Karina, you have inspired me in so many ways with your heart, your talent, your class, your integrity as an artist and even more so as a human being. I am proud to have been your dance partner and more proud to be your friend."
Next week it'll be Alley and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Disney star Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, and Super Bowl champ Hines Ward and Kym Johnson battling it out for the title. They all will dance in the finale on Monday, and the season 12 winner will be announced on Tuesday.
