Demi Lovato has blasted online trolls targeting her after her Nicki Minaj 'shade' post.
On Monday night (02May16) Demi was photographed at the 2016 Met Gala with rapper Nicki and designer Jeremy Scott who dressed them both in Moschino.
When Nicki shared an image of the trio on her Instagram account and failed to tag Demi, the 23-year-old singer posted a different picture from the Gala which showed the Starships singer apparently giving her the evil eye. Demi also posted a selfie to Snapchat and wrote in the caption, "When you aren't mentioned in a post but didn't do s**t to the person..." followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
Fans on social media interpreted her posts as a blast at Nicki, and despite Demi's denials she was targeted by negative online commenters which prompted a flurry of tweets from her in response on Thursday (05May16).
"Sometimes there's more to the story?... Sometimes there's more s**t going on than you see. Maybe you DON'T know every aspect of my life so maybe you shouldn't assume you know... Maybe I'm tired of sharing my story with the world," tweeted the singer who has been open with fans about her struggles with an eating disorder and her bipolar diagnosis.
"Can't change being crazy.. But you can press unfollow. Or maybe I rant online because people assume they know things and their entitlement to know makes me feel obligated to defend myself," she continued.
However, she called out the trolls, suggesting their loved ones would be horrified to discover the truth of their online activity.
"Imagine the love of ur life/biggest crush finding out u spend time on the internet commenting negative s**t about celebrities.. Embarrassed?", she questioned.
The singer who revealed she found her first Met Gala so awkward that it would probably be her last, wrote in her final tweet before signing off: "?I'd rather annoy people with my honesty and loud opinions than stay silent and be fake as f**k #lasttweetofthenight #goingtosleep?".
