Don't worry, everyone - a Canadian dentist has announced he still intends to clone John Lennon, when the technology is advanced enough.
In summer 2013, reports emerged that an orthodontist named Michael Zuk had somehow purchased a rotten (and probably rather smelly) molar of the late Beatles icon, with plans to extract the DNA and clone him. Of course.
However, it's been over a year and there's no Lennon clone running around yet. What gives, Zuk? Well, as he explained to Channel 4, cloning ain't a piece of cake and the technology isn't quite advanced enough yet.
Zuk has somewhat jumped the gun anyway, detailing his plans to raise Lennon 2.0 as his son and encourage him to eschew any bad habits. Of course. "He would still be his exact duplicate but you know, hopefully keep him away from drugs and cigarettes, that kind of thing," Zuk explained.
Zuk, who will feature in tonight's (April 10) episode of Dead Famous DNA on Channel 4, also said that he thinks it's legal to clone Lennon with his tooth (which he calls "genetic real estate"). He thinks.
"I think I can, because of the laws. Depends where you do these things. If it can’t be done in one country you can do these things in another," Zuk added. Blimey.
