Well that was fast! Just one day after announcing they were releasing their first song in eight years, Destiny's Child's "Nuclear" hit the Web.
Keeping with the theme of their upcoming compilation album, Love Songs, the new single is a midtempo jam that showcases the trio's harmonizing skills, proving Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams can still get together and croon like the old days.
While it's not a power anthem like "Independent Women, Part 1" or "Survivor," it will satisfy the fans, as the song takes on a more throwback vibe, mixing a '90s-inspired sound with a heavy drum beat and sensual lyrics.
"It's nuclear with you here/ We both heat up/ Going all the way," the ladies sing.
We won't have to wait long to see these three perform "Nuclear": Us Weekly reported that Rowland and Williams will join Beyoncé, who is working on her fifth studio album, halfway through her Super Bowl halftime show, making it their first live performance as a group since the 2006 NBA All-Star game.
What will Destiny's Child perform during Super Bowl halftime?
Pharrell produced the track, which he also co-wrote with Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal. On Thursday, Beyoncé announced via Facebook that Destiny's Child was releasing a new album.
"I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny's Child music in eight years!" Bey wrote, along with a photo of the album cover.
"Nuclear" is one of 14 songs, including "Emotions" and "Say My Name," to be featured on the upcoming Love Songs compilation, which will be released January 29.
