As if the news of Justin Timberlake returning to music wasn't enough, Beyoncé decided to surprise us all today by revealing that Destiny's Child have reunited for their first track in eight years.
On Thursday (January 10) Beyoncé took to Facebook to announce that she, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, will be releasing a Destiny's Child compilation album, titled Love Songs, which will feature new song "Nuclear."
"I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny's Child music in eight years!" Beyoncé wrote along with a photo of the album cover, which will be released January 29.
"Nuclear" was produced by Pharrell and co-written by Pharrell, Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal. The album, which is the first since 2004's Destiny Fulfilled, is comprised of songs recorded between 1997 and 2004 and features some of Destiny's Child's hit love songs including, "Cater 2 U," "Say My Name" and "Emotion".
Last summer, MTV News caught up with Rowland, who at the time, dismissed the idea that DC3 were reuniting. "We have a good time together and I think that's the most important thing," she said. "We don't want to scratch each other's eyes out; we love each other too much."
Rowland continued, "If [reuniting is] something that we would want to do, you know, [we would do it] but in the meantime we're just enjoying each other's friendship. That's the greatest gift of Destiny's Child."
No word on if the three ladies will perform the song together, but Destiny's Child fans will surely keep their fingers crossed for February 3, when Beyoncé, who is prepping her fifth studio album, hits the stage during the Super Bowl halftime show. Beyoncé recently opened up to GQ magazine about preparing like an athlete for the big performance.
"You know how they sit down and watch whoever they're going to play and study themselves? That's how I treat this," she said. "I watch my performances, and I wish I could just enjoy them, but I see the light that was late. I see, 'Oh God, that hair did not work.' Or 'I should never do that again.' I try to perfect myself. I want to grow, and I'm always eager for new information."
