Dido has praised Adele who she thinks is "amazing".
The singer has recently taken a break from music while she gave birth to her son Stanley who was born 18 months ago.
The British star, who is best known for her collaboration with Eminem on their 2000 track Stan, revealed that while she has taken a back seat in the music industry of late she has been admiring other UK female artists who have made it in the US.
"I love it! [new female singers on the scene]. Emeli Sandé, Adele..." Dido exclaimed to British magazine Look. "There are so many amazing singers coming out of this country and I feel proud to be any part of that."
Five years on from her last release and Dido is preparing to launch her single No Freedom, which is out at the end of February.
The soulful singer revealed that the influence of her son can be heard in her new album, which will follow the single release in March.
"I recorded a lot of the album while pregnant and I loved having a little mate kicking when I was singing," Dido smiled. "So far I've not written about him. It almost feels too big to write about. I did sing a track called Girl Who Got Away when I was pregnant and when Stanley was born that song completely calmed him down. He's my biggest critic!"
