Ellie Goulding is hoping she will rekindle her relationship with Dougie Poynter following their recent split.
The Burn singer confirmed in March (16) that she had parted ways with the McFly bassist after a two-year on-off relationship, but Ellie is convinced their romance is far from over and she hopes that one day they will get back together as their connection was so special.
When asked if they could work it out, she told Britain's Heat magazine, "Maybe. I hope so. We have something I know is special and I think other people see it - my friends see it, my family see it. My nana was, like, really sad.
"But I think some things are just kind of unfinished, an unfinished story. I hope so - he's a real gem and he's doing so well and he's keeping busy, as am I. I hope so, he's a great guy."
The pop star is planning to follow in the footsteps of her pal Ed Sheeran and take a break from the spotlight when her current tour ends in October (16). She will continue writing songs and she is not sure if she will open up about their split in her music.
"I don't know. Everyone knows I write about things that have happened in my life, but it's too early to say," she added. "It's very new and very different and I think people forget me breaking up with someone is no different to them breaking up with someone - it's s**t. But if I do write about him, it will probably be nice stuff."
In the interview, the 29-year-old also denied reports suggesting she had undergone a cosmetic procedure on her lips after they were spotted looking fuller at producer Clive Davis' pre-Grammys party in February (16).
She claims it is just her make-up artist's handiwork, telling the publication, "I hadn't done anything to them... Any of my friends will tell you, I don't like needles - it's impossible for me to have done anything like that. But it's funny, I have to see the funny side."
