Erykah Badu threw a pointed jibe at Iggy Azalea at the Soul Train Awards on Sunday night (29Nov15).
The 44-year-old singer was hosting the event and opened the annual ceremony with a monologue which saw her armed with a flip phone.
Erykah, who is working on a phone-centric mixtape and has just released a track with André 3000, was seen chatting to celebrities and inviting them to the awards.
But one star didn't earn an invite to the ceremony, with Erykah saying on the phone: "Who is this? Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey... no, no, no, you can't come, because what you doing is definitely not rap!"
Iggy has yet to respond to the barb, with her last Twitter post coming on 1 November. However, she does have a history of rows on the social media site.
She was previously involved in an argument with Azealia Banks, who accused her of not caring about "black issues".
Having nicknamed the singer 'Igloo Australia', Azealia said she was particularly upset by Iggy's nomination for Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards.
"The Grammys are supposed to be awards for artistic excellence… Iggy Azalea's not excellent," Azealia told New York radio station Hot 97 back in 2014. "When they give these Grammys out, all it says to white kids is, 'You're great. You're amazing. You can do whatever you put your mind to.' And it says to black kids, 'You don't have s**t. You don't own s**t, not even the s**t you created yourself.' And it makes me upset."
Iggy then responded to Azealia's comments on her own Twitter page, writing: "You created your own unfortunate situation by being a bigot and don't have the mental capacity to realise yet. Probably never will.
"Now! rant, Make it racial! make it political! Make it whatever but I guarantee it won't make you likable (sic) & THATS why ur crying on the radio."
