Flaming Lips Swipe Jay-Z's World Record

What a long, strange, sonorous trip it's been: The Flaming Lips have officially made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the most concerts performed in multiple cities in a 24-hour time period.

The legendary rockers began their journey Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, where they boarded their tricked-out bus, aptly named Endeavor, to zigzag across the region and treated fans to mini-sets in eight cities. Their efforts have bested the record for Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (Multiple Cities), which was previously held by Jay-Z.

This extra-special record-breaking event featured unforgettable performances by the Lips themselves, as well as duets with special guest stars like Grace Potter and Jackson Browne. Highlights include a rousing take of David Bowie's "Heroes" with Neon Indian in Jackson, Mississippi, a thundering version of Led Zeppelin's "Song Remains the Same" with Grace Potter in Oxford, Mississippi, and a stripped-down cover of Jackson Browne's "These Days" — featuring Browne himself — in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Other special surprises included an opening performance by up-and-comer Hunter Hayes in Hattiesburg, Neon Trees in Biloxi, Mississippi, the New Fumes, Gary Clark Jr., Neon Indian, Givers and an appearance by "Jackass" and "Wildboyz" star Chris Pontius.

The O Music Awards ceremony doled out a total of 24 awards, one for each hour of the festival. This year's winners included: Adam Lambert (Must Follow Artist on Twitter), Selena Gomez (Best Artist With a Cameraphone), 30 Seconds to Mars (Best Online Concert Experience), Karmin (Best Web-born Artist), Tokio Hotel has the Fan Army FTW, and Riot in Paris took home the win for Most Extreme Fan Outreach.
