Flo Rida's mother taught him to be "humble and show love".
The rapper has been in Australia where he was greeted by a swarm of fans on the red carpet of the country's major television awards, the Logies. The 32-year-old invited his followers back after the ceremony to party with him.
Flo believes it is important to show appreciation to the people who support him. He thanks his mother for keeping him grounded as he storms the charts with his single Wild Ones, featuring Sia.
"Oh man you gotta show some love," he told Australian radio's The Kyle and Jackie O Show. "You know, my mumma always taught me to be humble and show love because it takes you real far."
He adds his mother has been his biggest fan from day one. She has stood behind him throughout his career.
"My mum has always been the person who has instilled in me that if you want a great reaction you have to give out a positive attitude and a positive vibe that's what I always strive on," he said.
"I love my mom so much for the most part because it's hard to give her anything in terms of gifts because she's just so happy that I stayed on the right track and achieved the goal that I set out for."
