Frank Turner has told fans he will perform a 'secret' solo set alongside his full band headline slot at 2000trees Festival – and he may appear more than once.
His website confirmed a Thursday 'Early Entry' gig at Gloucestershire's 2000trees, which organisers today said they were planning to keep a secret.
Rumours suggest he may also show up on stage with friends like Beans on Toast and Jim Lockey, plus at a popular punkrock campfire known as Camp Reuben, in the heart of the main campsite, where he performed at the very first 2000trees in 2007.
Frank was given the chance by organisers to pick 10 of his favourite bands to add to the bill and his record label, Xtra Mile, is bringing a host of acts for a series of special performances across the weekend, including a takeover of the GreenHouse acoustic stage.
Early Entry tickets for 2000trees sold out last week, but since Frank Turner announced his extra show organisers have been inundated with requests for tickets. So they have agreed to release 100 extra for Thursday night, which will go on sale on Monday (June 24) at 7pm. Tickets for the main weekend are also available at www.twothousandtreesfestival.co.uk
Organiser Andy Rea said: "Everyone is very excited to see Frank Turner perform at a more intimate event. It's his only small festival appearance of the summer and with so many of his friends performing we're very excited to see what happens!
"We were keeping Thursday a secret - we wanted to give fans something special to remember - but now that Frank has spilled the beans we will put the extra Early Entry tickets on sale."
Frank Turner will headline the main stage on Friday night and Mystery Jets will headline on Saturday night. Other acts set to perform include Stornoway, King Charles, Future of the Left, And So I Watch You From Afar, We Are The Ocean, Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun, Dry the River and Funeral for a Friend.
Frank Turner said: "2000trees is a truly unique experience, it's my favourite UK festival, so getting the chance to 'book' my favourite bands and to play an extra solo set on Thursday makes it extra special.
"It's just an intimate, friendly, fun event and the organisers do it for the love of music, there's nowhere else with the same atmosphere, I can't wait to perform there again."
2000trees organiser James Scarlett says: "We've always seen Thursday as a night of fun for our fans and we've always tried to book acts that have appeared at 2000trees before, making it a kind of reunion.
"Fans can arrive early, get the best camping spot and enjoy the festival weekend to the full, so we're delighted that these tickets have sold out, it's going to be a superb night."
