Frank Zappa is to resurrect for one final album 23 years after his death.
Dance Me This was recorded shortly before his untimely passing from prostate cancer at 52. At the time, he called it a Synclavier album designed to be "used by modern dance groups." A Synclavier was an early digital synthesizer and sampling machine that was first released in the late 70's.
JamBase said that they had received an e-mail from Zappa's family saying the album "is the last title FZ finished in 1993 along with Trance-Fusion; the last chapter in his Master Work, Civilization, Phase III; and of course, The Rage & The Fury, The Music of Edgard Varèse."
A number of media organizations pointed out that the announcement came on April Fool's Day and were skeptical of its legitimacy; however, the album remains up for preorder at the Barfko Swill website.
Dance Me This is also being listed as Zappa's 100th official release.
