George Michael ‘earning millions in rehab’

Singer George Michael is "making millions" while tucked away in one of the most expensive rehab centres in the world.

The 52-year-old Careless Whisper hitmaker, who has a history of drug abuse, reportedly admitted himself into Switzerland-based treatment facility The Kusnacht Practice over the summer (15) in an attempt to get clean for good.

But it seems he has no financial issues to worry about as he bids for sobriety because, according to British newspaper The Sun, George earned £4.1million last year (14) from his company Nobby's Hobbies Holdings Ltd, generated from album sales and royalties.

Although the former Wham! star is making a fortune without working, sources claim he is eager to make a comeback in 2016. However, his return to the music scene is supposedly contingent on him attaining his sobriety goals.

"It's quite incredible George is still making millions even though he has not been working," a source told the outlet. "We know he's desperate to get back to work by next year, especially because it will be the 30th anniversary of Wham! splitting up and George going solo. But the absolute priority for him and his team is his health, as there's clearly no rush about him getting back to work."

Previous reports suggested George was smoking 25 joints per day before checking into the Swiss rehab centre, and a woman named Jackie, who claims to be his cousin, told The Sun the star suffered a severe crack cocaine problem.

But he took to Twitter on 12 July (15) to tell the world his health issues are not nearly that severe.

"To my lovelies, do not believe this rubbish in the papers today by someone I don't know anymore and haven't seen for nearly 18 years…" he tweeted. "I am perfectly fine and enjoyed Wimbledon (tennis tournament) like the rest of you... Lots of love, The Singing Greek xxx"
