George Michael gets called his full name by Greek people as it makes them think they know him better.
The 51-year-old star was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, with his father a Cypriot restaurateur who moved to the UK in the '50s. Most people refer to him as George these days, but occasionally his given name gets rocked out.
"At the last Greek wedding that I went to," he told Q magazine, when asked when he was last called Georgios. "Most Greeks like to call me by my Greek name; they think it shows that they know me better than other people."
The star was asked about a lot of last times during the interview, including when he'd recently made a meal for someone. Although it wasn't the last food he'd created, George gave an amusing story about one of his culinary offerings.
"I cooked a roast chicken for [producer and Michael's childhood friend] David Austin once and I left it in the oven for two days. I still served it to him though," he laughed.
The singer loves to have a good time and was more than happy to discuss when he last spun some tunes at a bash. He got behind the decks at an event to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics, which was a great night.
"The last time would be at my Olympics party, which, by the way, was the best party of the last ten years. We had Muse there, the Spice Girls, Oasis with both Liam and Noel Gallagher, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Kate Hudson and Doctor Who!" he enthused. "I think we actually ruined the official Olympics party as anyone who was anyone was at my house. Kate Moss and David Austin were the last two standing. By the way, Kate is officially in Wham! now."
