Gnarls Barkley will follow the March 31st release of their highly anticipated second album 'The Odd Couple' with the sudden announcement of a very intimate gig at rising London venue 229 on April 3rd.
Having previously played venues such as Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo, the show at the 600-capacity 229 on Great Portland Street will be the most personal gig that Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse have played on these shores.
Likely to sell-out with near immediacy, any remaining tickets for the show are on sale at a price of £19.50.
Available now as a digital download release and already heralded as a huge progression from the 'St. Elsewhere' debut, 'The Odd Couple' takes the playful creativity that distinguished the duo's debut 'St. Elsewhere' and expands the energy, the soul and the psychological complexity. The album showcases thirteen songs that advance Gnarls Barkley's vital, unpredictable mission. 'Who's Gonna Save My Soul' mixes melancholy Motown balladry and parched Delta blues, 'Surprise' juxtaposes its introspective lyrics with sunny backing vocals and insistent spy jazz, while 'A Little Better' closes the set with an uplifting expression of gratitude.
An exhilarating first taste of the new album, the single 'Run' is already available as a digital download. It finds Gnarls Barkley in peak form, combining an energetic and innovative Danger Mouse production with Cee-Lo's ardent gospel vocals to create another single-of-the-year contender.
Certified Platinum on both sides of the Atlantic, 'St. Elsewhere' won two Grammy Awards including Best Alternative Music Album and Best Urban Alternative Song. The phenomenal single 'Crazy' became the first single to top the singles chart on download sales alone and went on to remain at #1 for nine weeks.
