Lead singer and songwriter Billie Joe Armstrong has explained the punk rocker's ninth studio album will sound "fresh and high-energy".
Writing on his twitter page, he said: "Ok here's the scoop. [Green Day] has been jamming new songs everyday. There's a ton of new songs. The direction is fresh and hi energy. Feels great. (sic)"
The 39-year-old rocker also said bandmates bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool are "having the best time" laying down tracks for the new album.
Billie added: "I don't want to give away too much but just know that me, mike, tre and Jason are collaborating and having the best time playing music.
"And that's not bulls**t!! (sic)"
The band recently saw their musical 'American Idiot' - which was based on the group's concept album of the same name ' close on Broadway, but Billie explained he was proud of the way the production had "moved" people.
He said: "It moves people. I think it's the same reason why you would want to go see a band play live, you know? It's a record that's coming to life, it's in your face, and it's a story.
"That's what 'American Idiot' does. That's what it does in the music, and that's what it does onstage."
