Gucci Mane Traffic Charges Dropped

Gucci Mane was released from jail Wednesday (November 3) after being hauled in for cruising down the wrong side of the road Tuesday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that prosecutors declined to follow-up on the rapper's traffic charges after Tuesday's incident. Officials were reportedly dropping the case.

Gucci (born Radric Davis), was arrested after an off-duty officer spotted the MC wildly steering a Hummer. Gucci was also seen arguing with another man in front of an auto body shop and ignored police when they attempted to intervene. The rapper apparently struck the other man and was subdued with pepper spray. The MC was charged with running a red light or stop sign, damage to government property, obstruction, no license, no proof of insurance and other traffic charges, as well as driving on the wrong side of the road.

Gucci's label had no comment when contacted by MTV News.

Tuesday's flap was just the latest in Gucci's litany of legal run-ins. Among the rapper's most high-profile brushes with the law is his sixth-month prison sentence for a parole violation, which kept the MC behind bars for the release of his hotly anticipated 2009 release, The State vs. Radric Davis. The MC, who followed that up with The Appeal in September, said his most recent bid changed his perspective on the game.

"[Prison] is a real problem in hip-hop — it's a struggle to let that culture go. You can't let the ideology of the street get you in trouble," he said in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. "I just wish I didn't have to go to jail to learn that. But sometimes we have to sacrifice and be responsible."
