Hank Williams Jr.'s New Diss Song Is Old

Hank Williams Jr's "new" diss track is anything but. On his website, Team Hank wrote that, "In light of the recent Hank Jr. and ESPN news, Hank has recorded a song called 'Keep The Change'." Truth is, the song was written following the election of Barack Obama in 2008 and includes buzz phrases from the "they're-gonna-take-y'guns" crowd, like "I'll keep my freedom. I'll keep my guns. Try to keep my money and my religion too."

The bulk of the song has nothing to do with the controversy stemming from his comments last week on "Fox and Friends," when he used an analogy involving Adolph Hitler while discussing Obama. ESPN quickly dropped Hank from performing the weekly intro song for "Monday Night Football," though Hank says he hightailed it. For this version of the song he looks to have inserted two new lines, the longest of which takes aim at Fox, not the sports network that severed ties with him.

"So 'Fox & Friends' want to put me down. Ask for my opinion, then twist it all around. Supposed to be talking about my father's new CD! Well two can play that gotcha game, cuz wait and see. Don't tread on me."

Near the end of "Keep the Change," he tags, "You can keep Fox & Friends and ESPN out of your homes, too. Cuz Bocephus and all his rowdy friends and his song is outta there!"

Greg Cote of the Miami Herald caught the ruse and for evidence links to a video of Hank performing the original song back in 2009. Check Out the Lyrics:
