Today, 19th May, at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, the 61st Ivor Novello Awards [The Ivors] has just concluded with awards for Happy Mondays, Simple Minds and Damon Albarn.
The Ivors Classical Music Award – Oliver Knussen
This Ivor Novello Award is presented to a British or Irish composer, and recognises an outstanding body of work in the classical genre.
This is Oliver Knussen's first Ivor Novello Award.
International Achievement – Wayne Hector
This Ivor Novello Award honours a British or Irish songwriter or composer who has experienced exceptional success outside the United Kingdom.
This is Wayne Hector's first Ivor Novello Award. He was previously nominated for co-writing All This Time for Michelle McManus, in the category of Best Selling UK Single for the year 2004.
The Ivors Inspiration Award – Paul Davis, Mark Day, Paul Ryder, Shaun Ryder and Gary Whelan [Happy Mondays]
This Ivor Novello Award honours exceptional British or Irish songwriters or composers who have inspired the creative talents of others.
This is Happy Mondays' first Ivor Novello Award.
Songwriter of the Year – Adele Adkins
This Ivor Novello Award is presented to a British or Irish songwriter who has written an outstanding body of work released during the award year.
This is Adele's third Ivor Novello Award. She received the award for Songwriter of the Year in 2012, along with PRS for Music Most Performed Work for co-writing Rolling In The Deep. She has also been nominated three additional times – Someone Like You was nominated for PRS for Music Most Performed Work in 2012, Rolling In The Deep was nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2012 and 21 was nominated for the Album Award the same year.
Outstanding Song Collection – Charlie Burchill, Jim Kerr and Mick MacNeil [Simple Minds]
This Ivor Novello Award is presented to British or Irish songwriters who have written a consistently outstanding body of work.
This is Charlie Burchill, Jim Kerr and Mick MacNeil's first Ivor Novello Award.
PRS for Music Outstanding Contribution to British Music – Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons and
Adrian Utley [Portishead]

This is Portishead's first Ivor Novello Award.
Lifetime Achievement – Damon Albarn
This Ivor Novello Award is presented to a British or Irish songwriter or composer in recognition of a lifetime of exceptional creative talent.
This is Damon Albarn's third Ivor Novello Award. He picked up Songwriter of the Year with fellow members of Blur in 1996 and received the award for Songwriter of the Year again in 2006 for Gorillaz. He has also been nominated on three separate occasions; in 1995 for co-writing Park Life, in 2002 for co-writing Clint Eastwood and in 2006 for co-writing DARE.
PRS for Music Special International Award – Bryan Adams
This award is title sponsored by our ceremony sponsor, PRS for Music. It is presented to an international songwriter or composer who has had an outstanding career, being or having been, a major influence on the British music industry.
This is Bryan Adams' third Ivor Novello Award. He received the Ivor Novello Award in Recognition of the Exceptional Success of a Single Song in 1992 for co-writing Everything I Do I Do It For You; and the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Included in a Film or Television Programme in 1996 for co-writing Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman.
