It has been revealed that Warner Bros are preparing to launch a huge Academy Awards campaign in the hopes of winning a Best Picture nomination for the last Harry Potter installment.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 saw the end of the Harry Potter series a few weeks ago, topping the UK box office over three consecutive weeks and making over $1 billion worlwide.
According to Variety, Warner Bros is 'absolutely, hands-down, across-the-board' ready to plan an Oscar campaign for the last installment in the franchise.
Although the Harry Potter series have already been nominated for nine Academy Awards over the years, they still have failed to bring home a gold statuette.
It is rumoured Warner Bros is hoping to collect a 'Best Picture' award now that the series is finally complete. It is hoped the wizard series will follow in the footsteps of The Lord of the Rings trilogy which was awarded 11 Oscars once the film series was complete.
Even if Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 failes to achieve a 'Best Picture' award, the Harry Potter series is guaranteed a commercial success. The film has already taken more than $7 billion at the worlwide box office, making it the highest-grossing franchise of all time.
