It's only been one day since it was announced that Jamie Foxx will be the recipient of the MTV Generation Award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, and he's already getting one well wish after another.
Tom Cruise already welcomed him into the "Generation secret club," and Mike Tyson added that the heavy-weight prize is a long time coming. "That's gonna be pretty awesome," he told on Thursday night at the "Scary Movie 5" premiere.
Foxx had been attached to play Tyson in a biopic about his life, so it shouldn't be too surprising that the boxer has kind words for the Movie Awards winner and nominee. "He put in the work," he said. "Once he got the credit for 'Ray' [for which he won an Oscar], that just gave him the key to the world. And, he deserves everything he got. It's not like he's some overnight sensation. This game doesn't come easy and he achieved great stardom."
Ahead of Tyson's compliments for the actor, Cruise also mirrored his warm sentiments. He said, "I love Jamie. First of all, he's just an amazing human being, just so multi-talented. Here's a guy who is an incredible musician. He's an incredible comedian, and he's just an extraordinary actor. I think he very much deserves it."
In addition to taking home the Golden Popcorn for the MTV Generation Award, Foxx is also up for Best Male Performance, Best Fight, Best Kiss and Best WTF Moment. Fans can see what other pieces of hardware Foxx may take home when the 2013 MTV Movie Awards go live from Culver City at 9 p.m. ET. Rebel Wilson is slated to host, and the show will include performances from Selena Gomez, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and the cast of "Pitch Perfect."
