Jason Segel: My mother wants me to quit

The actor rose to fame in the American series How I Met Your Mother and has gone on to star in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man and Get Him to the Greek.

He can currently be seen in a new big screen version of Gulliver’s Travels alongside comic star Jack Black.

But Jason admits his mother, who he is very close to, is growing concerned at his demanding career.

“We talk all the time. And my mom is just uberly concerned. She wants me to quit,” the 30-year-old is quoted as saying by Famecrawler.

The star says she simply has his best interests in mind. However, Jason revealed his mother’s opinion is often offset by his father’s more get-up-and-go attitude.

“She wants me to be happy. And every time she talks to me I’m tired. She says, ‘Son, you can’t live like this.’ It’s really, really sweet. Then my dad goes, ‘Work, work, work,’” he explained.

Meanwhile, Jason admits he would only ever want to start his own family if he met the right person.

For the time being the Los Angeles-born star is content to just get on with his life and has no personal goals – although he feels his outlook could change.

“If I met the right girl [I’d want kids], it’s as simple as that. I think for women, it’s like a life goal. For me, it would be meeting the woman with whom I want to have kids,” he added.
