The hip-hop star made music history in the US when he topped Billboard's top 100 charts with his single Drop, which was the first time a UK urban act had done so.
Sean, 29, was unimpressed with the recent nominations announcement for the upcoming Brit Awards.
According to UK newspaper Daily Record, he said: 'The list of nominations is to be expected. I've got to say I'm not a fan of award shows. I think they are fake and there's a lot of politics behind it.
'I doesn't represent anything about who's doing what. Half the people on the list have hardly sold any records.'
The rapper failed to land a nomination at the Brits despite his worldwide success.
He said: 'The name says everything. It's the Brits. It doesn't take into account who has been around the world, hence the reason why I'm not nominated.
'It's a bit of a diss that they don't respect what I've done. I don't need a trophy or a piece of plastic to tell me how good I am or what I'm achieving in life.'
