The talented actor has enjoyed a hugely successful Hollywood career spanning four decades, and he was awarded with the best actor Oscar at this year’s ceremony for his part in Crazy Heart.
Jeff has depicted a host of different characters during his lengthy career, and admits he’s relished the opportunity to play tough bad guys as he’s such a softie in real life.
“I don’t consider myself a hard-ass,” he told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. “I like people. I’m light and airy. But I can play a hard-ass.”
Jeff is immensely proud of all his movies, and is adamant he would have been a fan of all his films even if he hadn’t starred in them. He admits contemplating his life achievements makes him feel nostalgic as well as excited.
“I look back at my filmography and I’m pretty jazzed with the stuff I’ve been part of. They’re all movies I’d like to see,” he beamed.
The star could never have predicted the path his career has taken, and says that’s what has made it so wonderful. He counts Crazy Heart, The Big Lebowski, The Last Picture Show and The Fabulous Baker Boys – which he starred in alongside older brother Beau Bridges - among his favourite performances.
“But one of the things that I find so exciting about life is that you’re constantly surprised. You never know what’s going to happen, and it’s certainly like that making movies; every once in a while one will come along that transcends all of your expectations. So many things have to fall in place to make that happen, but when it does…” he enthused.
