Jennifer Hudson doesn't want her fans to cry for her.
The US singer has just embarked on her first tour but would rather see fans smiling than grieving for the tragic loss of her mother, brother and nephew - who were murdered last October.
Jennifer, 27, told Entertainment Weekly magazine: "The other day this lady came up to me and got really close to me - and I thought, 'What is it that makes people want to embrace me?'
"I don't like it when people get all emotional. I don't want you to cry. "To see a smile from fans is one of the most beautiful things."
Walter Williams III, who is Jennifer's personal assistant, revealed the star won't talk about the murders but "God pulled her through" and she is trying to get her life back on track.
He said: "She's OK as long as people don't bring it up. It was so, so horrible what happened, and she's still hurting.
"But she's a strong girl and she knows her family is in a better place. I really think she's going to be fine."
Jennifer - who won an Oscar for her performance in 'Dreamgirls' in 2006 - also said she finds solace in music.
She added: "This is what I love to do, and I hate to sit still. I have been active for the past four or five years, and to be working like that and then to just stop and all you hear is the clock ticking. That will drive you crazy."
Jennifer is on tour in the US throughout April and May.
