Jennifer Hudson advises couples to "spend time apart" to spice up their love lives.
The 30-year-old singer has been engaged to fiancé David Otunga since 2008.
Jennifer sings the title song for upcoming romantic comedy Think Like a Man, a film based on American comedian Steve Harvey's advice book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. The tome gives advice to women on how to maintain happy relationships.
Jennifer agrees with the book's relationship philosophy, but she applies one crucial romance policy to her own life.
"Spend time apart! Because after a while you get tired of each other, you know?" Jennifer told ET Online at the film's premiere. "Having that newness – That's what people fall in love with. Having the freshness. [David and I] like the idea of being in love and kind of being unfamiliar with each other so when we see each other every day, all day, that's when you get tired of it."
Jennifer was elated to work on this project, as she embraces this modern approach to dating.
"[Think Like a Man] is so me," exclaimed the Grammy-winning singer. "They picked the right person to sing this song."
Jennifer and David have two-year-old son David Otunga Jr together.
Think Like a Man will be released in US theatres on April 20.
