Jennifer Lawrence Comes Undone And More SAG Awards Highlights

They may not be the Academy Awards or even the Golden Globes, but the Screen Actors Guild Awards hold a special place among Hollywood's heavyweights as the accolades come straight from industry peers.

The 19th annual ceremony took place Sunday, January 27, with stars of film and television gathering to celebrate their own, with more big wins for Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence and Ben Affleck's "Argo."

So, without further ado, here are the moments we're sure you'll be talking about tomorrow.

Anne Hathaway's Dreams Come True
"Les Miserables" star Anne Hathaway continues to dominate the awards show circuit — winning her first Actor for the supporting role of Fantine in Tom Hooper's movie musical. "Thank you. I'm just so thrilled I have dental," the 30-year-old quipped before taking a more serious tone. "I got my SAG card when I was 14. It felt like the beginning of the world. I have loved every single minute of my life as an actor, and I have been a recipient of so much kindness and support from actors in this room and out of it. Thank you for nominating me alongside incredible women and incredible performances."

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Golden Moment
It was deja vu all over again when "30 Rock" star Tina Fey took the stage to receive her fifth SAG Award, using the opportunity to thank longtime friend and recent Golden Globes co-host Amy Poehler (while poking fun at a certain young actress). "I share this with my sweet friend Amy Poehler, who I've known for so long," Fey said. "I've known you since you were pregnant with Lena Dunham."

"Modern Family" Offers To Add To Its Brood
Rather predictably, the cast of "Modern Family" won the Actor for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy, but what did surprise was spokesman Jesse Tyler Ferguson's offer to the competition, telling the now-unemployed stars of "30 Rock" and "The Office" to send their resumes in care of the ABC comedy.

"Les Miserables" For Dummies
If you have yet to see "Les Miserables" and can't fathom why everyone's so excited about a bunch of 19th century French revolutionaries, well, stars Hathaway and Hugh Jackman had a more modern synopsis to offer while introducing the Best Ensemble Cast nominee: "Wolverine is being chased by Gladiator. Catwoman gets knocked up and for some ungodly reason goes to see Bellatrix Lestrange from 'Harry Potter' and Borat. And Wolverine agrees to raise Catwoman's baby, and she grows up to star in 'Mamma Mia.'" That explains it all.

Dick Van Dyke's Life Of Achievement
"I've knocked around this business for 70 years, and I still haven't quite figured out what it is I do," Dick Van Dyke mused as he accepted his Life Achievement award from SAG. But the legendary actor did know one thing for sure: "I'm looking at the greatest generation of actors in the history of acting," he said, addressing the Shrine Auditorium audience. "You've all lifted the art to another place now and besides that, you're everywhere. You're in Darfur, Somalia, Haiti, New Orleans. You're all over the place trying to do what's right." Just like you, Dick.

"Downton" Debut
The upstairs-downstairs British series won its first SAG Award for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Drama (at the very moment a new episode premiered on PBS). And we have a feeling Phyllis Logan's onstage outcry would have left her small-screen alter-ego Mrs. Hughes blushing. "Shut the French windows!" Logan exclaimed before thanking SAG for even bothering to consider the drama.

Jennifer Lawrence Thanks...Us!
Despite reports of pneumonia, "Silver Linings Playbook" star Jennifer Lawrence not only walked the red carpet but nabbed her first SAG Award for her turn in the romantic drama. (Her navy blue Dior didn't fair so well, however, as she ripped the skirt while walking to the stage.) But never mind that because who should the actress thank first and foremost but MTV! "I want to thank MTV. I'll explain that," she said. "I earned my SAG card when I was 14 — I did an MTV promo for 'My Super Sweet 16,' and I remember getting it in the mail and it being the best day of my life because it made me an official actor and put me in a category with you." All we have to say is, Jennifer, you are so welcome.
