With the 2013 Oscars just a day away, some of Hollywood's biggest stars descended on Santa Monica, California for the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (February 23), a final, sun-drenched dress rehearsal before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences brings award season to an end on Sunday.
Heading into the Indies, David O. Russel's dramedy about mental illness, "Silver Linings Playbook" and Wes Anderson's preteen love story, "Moonrise Kingdom," lead the way with five nominations apiece. After Andy Samberg wrapped up his hosting duties and the final statuette was handed out, "Silver Linings" came out the night's big winner, swiping four wins, including Best Feature and Best Female Lead for Jennifer Lawrence. "Moonrise," meanwhile, was completely shut out.
