Jermaine Jackson: Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Is Ill-Timed

Jermaine Jackson has explained his opposition to the upcoming Michael Jackson tribute concert, saying it is ill-timed.

The gig, at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium next month, has the support of the late singer's mother Katherine, as well as other members of the Jackson family.

But Jermaine and his brother Randy have distanced themselves from the event because it falls before the trial of Dr Conrad Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to Jackson's involuntary manslaughter.

"It's bad timing because it's two weeks into the trial," Jermaine told BBC Newsbeat. "It's good to celebrate, good to keep the legacy alive, but everything has its time."

Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo and Cee Lo Green have so far confirmed that they will perform at the concert.

Meanwhile, Jermaine Jackson met fans of Michael as he launched a new book about his late brother in London earlier thsi week.

The book, entitled You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother's Eyes, recalls Jackson's final days before his death in June 2009.

Jermaine signed copies of the book for fans during an appearance at a book store in London, where he posed with one dressed like the star.
