Overview
Joe Strummer of the Clash has been the subject of two documentaries (The Future is Unwritten and Strummerville) and will now be getting the biopic treatment with Joe Public. The film is being developed by Britain's Film4.
Currently on-board are Paul Viragh who also wrote the Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. Damion Jones (Millions, The History Boys) and Simon Halfon (Sleuth) will produce. No cast has been announced.
Not only was Strummer active musically until his death in 2002, but he also tried his hand at acting in such films as The King of Comedy, Straight to Hell and Mystery Train.
