A Christmas card designed by John Lennon has been re-printed to mark the 50th anniversary of Oxfam's seasonal cards.
The yellow card depicting a bird entitled The Fat Budgie was first available as an Oxfam Christmas card at the height of Beatlemania in 1965. But it is now being sold in Oxfam shops as a limited edition, along with one of the first ever Oxfam Christmas card designs, A Robin, by Oxfam employee Leslie Durham in Oxfam shops.
Because of public generosity, Oxfam Christmas cards have raised £56million for Oxfam over the past 50 years – enough to build 33,000 classrooms or fund Oxfam's work last year in Kenya, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan twice over.
Yoko Ono, who gave Oxfam permission to re-print the card, has already ordered 200 of the cards to send to friends and family.
