Fopp Film Club has announced a free screening of the music documentary The US vs John Lennon, which opens to cinema's nationwide on 8th December. The documentary charts Lennon's personal journey during the period 1966 to 1976, as he transforms from adored Beatle into outspoken antiwar activist, one in constant conflict with the U.S. government and its views.
The US vs John Lennon focuses on the efforts of Richard Nixon's Government to silence Lennon - one of rock & roll's most outspoken war critics – and uncovers the truth behind highly classified efforts to isolate and deport him.
The film includes footage of Vietnam, as well as peace marches and protests in London. It also incorporates forty of Lennon's songs, both from his time with the Beatles and solo songs.
The film will be introduced by director David Leaf, who will also be answering questions on the night.
