The veteran actor has been married to actress Kelly Preston since 1991 and the pair’s family is made up of Ella Bleu, ten, and Benjamin who was born last November. Their first child, Jett, died in 2009 aged 16.
Now John admits that the arrival of Benjamin didn’t shock him as much as the other two kids – largely because of his experience in dealing with them. And this has also had a good impact on his son.
"After having two children, you go through all the ups and downs of learning how to be a parent," the 56-year-old confided to ET Online. "You become calmer by the third one. I think with our third child here we are a lot calmer about everything that's going on... consequently it's caused a much calmer baby too. He's a very happy baby."
John revealed that he was overjoyed after Benjamin entered the world. He says that, because there was such a large gap between children, his feelings were made stronger.
“Holding him was just such a satisfying experience because I hadn't had it in so long. He was so happy to be in my arms,” he explained.
John added that, as with the couple’s other children, he and Kelly decided on a silent birth, which the hospital staff “beautifully” adhered to.
