The 56-year-old actor and his wife Kelly, 48, announced she was pregnant with the couple’s third child in May. Kelly’s representative later confirmed the actress is expecting a boy and last week it was revealed they will call their son Benjamin.
John is currently in Australia to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Qantas Airline and is looking forward to the arrival of the newest member of his family.
"I can't wait to meet Benjamin," John said in an interview with Extra.
Kelly’s due date is November 26 and John hopes the baby doesn’t arrive early. However, the Hollywood star is ready to fly back to the US at a moment’s notice if Kelly goes into labour.
"When I left, she was having what they call Braxton Hicks, the fake labour, and we were both a little worried,” he explained. “But then the doctor said to drink more water, more liquids and that stops that. I think she just had a little talk with Ben and said, 'Look, let's wait till Dad comes home and deliver then.' But I'm ready to go at any minute, if she started having labour now we would leave and take 22 hours to get home, but I'll get there."
John and Kelly also have a ten-year-old daughter Ella Bleu. Their 16-year-old son Jett died in January 2009 after he hit his head during a seizure at the family’s holiday home in the Bahamas.
John went on to reveal the family will spend the Christmas season in Maine and plans to appear in another movie next year. “By fall, you will see me on screen again,” he promised.
