Jon Bon Jovi is still "beside himself and in shock" over his daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi's heroin overdose.
The 50-year-old rocker's eldest child Stephanie Rose, 19, was discovered catatonic in her Hamilton College dorm room last week.
She suffered from a heroin overdose and small amounts of this drug as well as marijuana was found in her room.
Jon shares four children, Stephanie and three sons, with his wife Dorothea Hurley.
Everyone is devastated by the event, but Jon finds it particularly hard to deal with.
"Jon is completely beside himself and in shock," a source told Star magazine.
"The family is extremely upset. It's not something Jon ever expected from his little girl. Jon's always prided himself in having a strong, healthy family. He's heartbroken."
It is likely that he will seek NY drug addiction treatment for his daughter.
Stephanie and fellow university student Ian Grant, 21, faced three counts of drug possession for heroin and marijuana, but the charges were dismissed due to New York State's Good Samaritan 911 law.
According to MailOnline, Stephanie will not return to the college in upstate New York until at least the New Year.
