Jon Bon Jovi normally "gets it wrong" when trying to tell if a song he's written is good.
The frontman of rock band Bon Jovi is currently promoting their new album What About Now with Because We Can – The Tour.
Despite going strong since the 1980s, the 51-year-old admits it's hard to tell whether a new track will go down well with fans or not.
"It's tough! I remember playing songs for family members and they go, 'It's great,' and then it's [rubbish] or they say it's rubbish and it's great. So at the end of the day, you've gotta go with your own gut. I don't spend too much time asking anybody anymore," he confessed to Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.
"I've been wrong more than I've been right. Fortunately I have had enough things go right. It's just quantity at the end of the day; you keep swinging, you get a home run!"
During his time in show business, Jon has also tried his hand at acting.
Despite impressing in shows such as Tina Fey's 30 Rock, the star has no further acting work lined up.
"I really did love it, and at that time of my life it helped me grow as an artist," he explained.
"I think that in this last decade I've found a great appreciation for what I've done musically and we've kept very busy in that last decade. I'm not actively pursuing any acting any longer."
