The 33-year-old Tudors star was found by paramedics collapsed on the floor of his London house on Tuesday, and after refusing treatment, he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
He has since been discharged after receiving treatment - and a friend has now said that Jonathan did not intend to kill himself.
The pal told People magazine: 'He did relapse but he did not try to commit suicide.'
Rhys Meyers, who has been in and out of rehabilitation since 2005, is thought to have mixed pills and alcohol, however, his representatives have yet to comment on the incident.
